Breakell Racing’s Tom Jackson and Ameerh Naran once again produced impressive podium pace in the latest meeting of the British Endurance Championship at Silverstone.
The BEC raced on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit for the second time in 2023. The first visit was the season opener in March, with Jackson and Naran taking Breakell Racing’s Mercedes-AMG GT4 to a brilliant class podium finish.
Having added a second podium finish of the campaign last time out at Oulton Park, the team were confident of collecting more silverware across the two-hour race. Reigning BEC champion Jackson and ever-improving newcomer Naran produced encouraging pace across pre-event testing.
After qualifying a great third in class for the race, Naran started behind the wheel and stormed forward four places overall in the opening lap alone. Unfortunately an innocuous spin on lap two left the Mercedes at the side of the track, with another car then collecting it and causing race-ending damage.
James Breakell - Team Principal: “It’s such a shame to have had our race ended early by an incident ultimately out of our control. With the previous experience from the season opener under their belts, Tom and Ameerh were right on the pace and we knew we had the speed to challenge for the class win in that race. We’re going to take everything learnt into the next round at Snetterton.”
