Breakell Racing had silverware to celebrate in the latest round of the British Endurance Championship at Oulton Park (27 May).
The third round of the 2023 BEC season saw Tom Jackson and Ameerh Naran were battling it out around the full Oulton Park International circuit, with the talented duo producing class-leading pace throughout the race in the Breakell Racing’s Mercedes-AMG GT4.
Starting third in class after a strong performance in qualifying, the Mercedes burst into life as the race started with a position gained in the opening stages. From there, fast and consistent stints from Jackson and Naran kept them right in the lead battle throughout.
Unfortunately for the team, issues outside of their control in the first two pitstops would cost them crucial time. They battled on though, with Naran producing his most impressive performance of the season so far and reigning BEC champion Jackson putting in formidable lap times.
After three hours of racing, they had superbly climbed from tenth on the grid to fifth overall at the chequered flag and crucially second in class, securing them a second podium finish of the season following their third place in the Silverstone season opener.
James Breakell: “I’m incredibly proud of the whole team for their performance at Oulton Park. The car was flying in the race, Tom and Ameerh put in great drives and ultimately it was circumstances outside of our control in the pitstops that cost us a victory. That’s frustrating, but we’re focusing on the huge positives to take from the event and we’re excited for the next one.”
